Technology is integrated into the curriculum across all disciplines. Students are taught to use the most appropriate tools to achieve their educational goals. The new Technology Center was built in 2006.
Technology is available in the new Technology Center, in the Library, in classrooms, and on laptop carts throughout the school. Nine mobile media carts allow teachers and students to do multi-media projects anywhere in the building. The Technology Center is equipped with scanners and video and document cameras. Six classrooms have SMART Boards for more interactive applications of technology.
The Educational Technology Coordinator works closely with Middle School teachers to create technology-based assignments and projects. She coaches students in PowerPoint presentations and multimedia and video productions. Her goal is to ensure that Middle Schoolers can use technology with ease and confidence to enhance their own learning. Students have remote access to their files at any time, and the Educational Technology Coordinator is available to answer technology questions from parents.
Ethical behavior and internet safety are ongoing themes repeatedly emphasized throughout a student's career at The Northwest School.
