| How do families visit the school? |
Domestic families may visit The Northwest School during an evening Open House and on an assigned daytime Tour Day.
Open House evenings are designed to give families an overview of The Northwest
School.
The 2007 Open House dates are:
Tuesday, November 13 at 7:00 PM for Middle School (Grades 6-8)
Wednesday, November 14 at 7:00 PM for Upper School (Grades 9-12)
Tour Days are required for families who have submitted an Application Form. This day gives a more in-depth look at the school. Applicants and their families will have an opportunity to visit classes and speak with faculty.
International students and families are encouraged to visit the school at any time. They may request such visits prior to applying by contacting the International Program office by:

| Is there an Admission application deadline? |
Domestic Application - January 17, 2008
We recommend submitting your application early. All other application materials must be submitted by February 8, 2008. Decisions will be mailed on March 20, 2008.
International Application - February 08, 2008

| How are students selected for admission? |
Admission to The Northwest School is competitive, but not limited to one measure.
In the domestic admission process, a committee comprised of faculty and administrators considers the following sources of information: the application; academic records; teacher evaluations; personal recommendation; ISEE test; the Tour Day visit; and a student's talents, character and leadership qualities.
In the selection process for the International Program, a committee comprised of faculty and administrators considers the following sources of information: the application; academic records; teacher evaluation; math assessment; English assessment; personal recommendation; SLEP or TOEFL test; and a student's talents, character and leadership qualities.

| Are sibling applicants given special consideration? |
Siblings of current / past NWS students and children of alumni and faculty go through the same admission process and, if fully qualified, are given special consideration.

| What is the enrollment of the school? How large are classes? |
Total enrollment, including our International Program, is approximately 457 students (Middle School 129, Upper School 328). The student-teacher ratio is 9 to 1. Class size varies from 12 to 20 students.

| How many applications do you receive? |
The number of applications varies from year to year, and from grade level to grade level. During the 2007-2008 application season, we received five applications for every one opening in the sixth and ninth grades.

| Is financial aid available? |
Yes. Please check the financial aid box on the domestic application form if you are interested in applying. This will prompt the Financial Aid Office to send the financial aid application. Financial aid information is included in the Application Packet.
Regretfully, we can not offer Financial Aid to families residing outside of the Greater Seattle / King County Area. Given our limited resources for Financial Aid, the Board of Trustees has elected to target those resources locally, as a way of giving something back to the local economy.

| When will we receive the school's decision? |
For Domestic Admissions, applications must be received by January 17th. All further application materials, must be received by February 8th. Decisions will be mailed on March 20th.
For admission to our International College Preparatory Program, we encourage students to submit completed applications and other documents by February 8th. Decisions will be mailed on and after April 1st. We also accept applications throughout the year to fill any remaining spaces in our program.

| What happens if an application is late? |
We consider late applications on a space-available basis.
