International Application - Checklist

Please complete the following steps:

Step 1: Complete the Application
Complete student questionnaire in your own words and in your own handwriting.
Include the application fee of $100.
Please send the application as soon as possible.

Step 2: English Proficiency Test (IELTS or TOEFL)
All applicants must take the IELTS or TOEFL exam. Please note international student applications will not be processed without an official test score report. The Northwest School institution code for the TOEFL is 1715. Below are the recommended minimum test scores for each grade level. Please note that meeting or exceeding the minimum test score does not guarantee acceptance:

The Admissions Committee will consider multiple factors and determine the most suitable program for the applicant. Please note that a TOEFL score is required for grade 12 applicants and for any international applicant to our Regular College Preparatory Program.

Register for the IELTS or TOEFL whether you are applying for the ESL program or regular program.
Note: If you are applying for the Regular College Preparatory Program and/or 12th grade, you may supplement your application with the submission of an IELTS or ISEE score.

Step 3: Writing Sample
Submit one spontaneous and uncorrected English writing sample in your own handwriting on any topic.

Step 4: Academic Evaluation Forms
Teacher Evaluation Form
Choose one current academic teacher to fill out one Evaluation Form. This should be from a teacher not providing a math or English Assessment Form.
Print teacher and student's name on the form.
Give form to student's teacher.
Provide teacher with an envelope addressed to The Northwest School.

English and Math Assessment Forms
Print teacher and student's name of the form.
Give the assessment forms to the student's English and math teachers, respectively.
Provide teachers with an envelope addressed to The Northwest School.

Step 5: Personal Reference Form (Optional)
Choose someone who knows your child to fill out the personal reference. We suggest a neighbor, coach, family friend or non-academic teacher.
Print student's name on the personal reference form.
Give form to person of your choice.
Provide reference writer(s) with an envelope addressed to The Northwest School.

Step 6: Transcript Release Form
All transcripts must be translated into English by school official or professional translator.
Give the completed and signed Transcript Release Form to officials at your child's school and to all such officials at schools attended two years previous.
Include transcripts from the current year and the two previous years.

Step 7: Financial Statement
Fill out the Financial Statement and have it certified by your bank/financial institute.

Step 8: Personal Visit/Interview
An interview, either in person or via an internet video-call, is required. A personal visit is highly recommended. Please contact the International Admission Office to make an appointment.

A video clip of the student presenting a self-introduction is also recommended.
