NWS Alumni

Alumni return to NWS each year to share their experiences with seniors. Graduates report that thanks to their Northwest School education, they meet the college challenges of greater independence, critical thinking, effective writing, and relating to people from around the world with confidence and success.

Nick Jones (NWS '01) graduated from Haverford College in 2005 after studying in Cuba and Spain. An accomplished cellist, Nick is a Ph.D. candidate at New York University in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.

"I can't say enough about the quality of NWS's college prep curriculum and education, or about how its academic program encourages the students' passions and talents. I also really loved the urban location."

Josh Miller (NWS '96) graduated from Macalester College in 2000. He won a Watson Fellowship to study indigenous music in Ireland and Australia, and a prestigious National Science Foundation Research Fellowship to pursue graduate studies in Geology and Paleontology at the University of Chicago. Josh is one of the first scientists to study the recently-discovered "Tiktaalik," the evolutionary transition between fish and land animals.

"NWS is passionate about teaching its students to think independently, communicate clearly, and be full participants in their community. The lessons I learned there have been with me ever since."
