NWS Alumni
Alumni return to NWS each year to share their experiences with seniors. Graduates report that thanks to their Northwest School education, they meet the college challenges of greater independence, critical thinking, effective writing, and relating to people from around the world with confidence and success.
Kate Thorpe '02 was recently awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for next year. She is a post-MFA Michener Fellow at the University of Iowa this year and will spend next year living in Berlin and Dortmund and developing creative work in response to the post-industrial urban renewal that has recently transformed Dortmund. Congratulations Kate!
Maia Brown '06, a senior at Oberlin College was recently awarded The Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, which recognizes “college graduates of unusual promise.” The fellowship allows for a one-year independent research project outside the United States. Maia will study the ways in which the nations of Ireland and South Africa have curbed political conflict and attempt to apply such strategies to peace initiatives in the Middle East, specifically to Palestine and Israel.
