Britt Atack. Athletic Director, Basketball and Ultimate Coach.
B.A. (History), University of Puget Sound; MIT, Seattle University. He thrives on playing sports mainly basketball, Ultimate, running and biking and working up a sweat. He counts himself as fortunate to have played on two national champion Ultimate teams and trained with high-level basketball players. Other interests include baking cookies, crossword puzzles and day-dreaming about parkour moves. At NWS since 1990.
Philip Benjamin. Assistant Coach, Boys’ JV Ultimate.
Philip is a Northwest School alum from the class of 2005, and joins the faculty as Assistant Coach for Boys’ JV Ultimate. He is a graduate of Wesleyan University. At NWS since 2011.
Graham Brewer. Head Coach, Girls JV Volleyball.
Graham joins Northwest as Head Coach to the Girls’ JV Volleyball team. He has previously served as Northwest’ Assistant Coach for Boys' Varsity Basketball. Graham is a graduate of Whitman College. At NWS since 2010.
Joe Bisignano. Physical Education, Cross Country Head Coach, Service Learning.
B.A. (Justice, Morality and Constitutional Democracy), James Madison College at Michigan State University; M.S. (Contemporary Curriculum), Barry University. Joe's 19 years of teaching experience include NOMS Middle School and NOVA High School. He is the past Executive Director of the Four Winds summer camp on Orcas Island. His lifelong obsession with playing and coaching Ultimate is morphing into a midlife obsession with running and coaching Cross Country. At NWS since 2001.

Heidi-Marie Clemens. Physical Education, Varsity Girls’ Ultimate Head Coach, JV Girls’ Soccer Head Coach, Varsity Girls’ Basketball Assistant Coach.
B.A. (German and Art Practice) UC Berkeley; M.A. (Germanics) University of Washington; M.A.T. (currently enrolled) Seattle Pacific University. Heidi-Marie's passion is ultimate Frisbee. She has coached locally, regionally and internationally over the last five years and currently plays for the women's team Seattle Riot, which placed 3rd in the world last summer. Her first sport love was basketball (she earned a California State Championship in high school) and therefore she was thrilled last year to join the varsity coaching squad for Northwest in basketball as well as ultimate and soccer. When not coaching, Heidi-Marie can be found painting, knitting, dancing, cooking or lost in a fantastical realism novel or expounding on some German philosophical conundrum. At NWS since 2010.
Mike Mullen. Assistant Athletic Director, Middle School and 9th grade Physical Education, 9th grade Health, Girls Varsity Soccer Head Coach, and Ultimate Coach.
B.A. (History), University of Washington; M.A. (Education-Curricu-lum & Technology), University of Phoenix. In addition to coaching high school girls soccer for 13 years, Mike coached the NWS high school boys Ultimate teams to three state championships and two western U.S. championships. He also coached the Seattle U-19 Boys Ultimate team to the 2007 National Championship. He is co-founder and co-director of the Seattle Youth Ultimate (Frisbee) Camps. His interests include snowboarding, tennis and being a noted indoors-man. At NWS since 1992.

Alex Wells. Physical Education, Varsity Boys Ultimate Head Coach.
B.A. (Economics), Claremont McKenna College. Since Spring '08, Alex has been a substitute teacher for our Athletic Department teaching ultimate, volleyball, hockey and rock climbing. He coached the NWS Boys JV Ultimate team which won the award for Best Spirit for a boys team at the Washington State Tournament. At NWS since 2008.
Chaz Welsh. Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach, HS Girls JV Soccer, and Physical Education.
B.A. (Interdisciplinary Studies), University of Washington. Chaz is an NWS alum (Class of ‘97) and has been coaching on and off here since 1999. He is a former trainer and coach for Emerald City Basketball Academy. Chaz enjoys family time with his wife, Oceania, and twin boys Nico and Carlo. His interests include playing basketball, collecting vinyl, rooting for Seattle sports teams, and being the best dad possible. At NWS since 1999.
