Director of Food Services: Renee O'Harran
Jim Erb. Assistant Director of Food Services. Jim graduated from the Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management program at South Seattle Community College. He has worked in food services for 28 years, at the Renton Sheraton, the Everett Pacific Hotel, and at the Alaska Junction in West Seattle. He enjoys cook-ing Italian food. His interests include golf,the Seattle Mariners, Seahawks and Sonics, and gardening. At NWS since 1999.
Rungroj Muanggan. Dormitory and Lunch Chef.
B.S. (Economics, Minor in Business Administration), Chiang Mai University, Thailand. Rung was a cook at The Bon Appetit, Eleven-01 (University of Washington), and the Coldwater Bar & Grill at The Westin Hotel before joining NWS. He enjoys reading Sanskrit and Pali, studying economics in sustainable development, and visiting the farmer's market in his free time. Rung visits his native Thailand each year, and loves to share his experiences with others. At NWS since 2008.
Anthony Muller. Lunch Chef.
Tony has been a Lead Saute' Cook in Seattle for over 10 years, most recently at Cremant, La Spiga and Tango. His primary focus during lunch will be taking care of our students with food allergies and special dietary needs. At NWS since 2009.
Renee O'Harran. Director of Food Services. Renee graduated from the Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management program at South Seattle Community College. She has worked in the food services industry over 20 years, including at UW's Hillel House and at the Denali Lodge in Alaska. Her interests include cooking, skiing, biking, and time with her family, notably her English Bulldog, Alister. At NWS since 1992.
Patrick Shay. Dormitory Dinner Chef. Patrick has worked in food services for over 20 years, including managing the Old Hickory Inn in Glendora, California, and cooking at the Benbow Inn in West Seattle. He has a growing interest in Asian cuisine. His other interests include football, fall season, and snow days. At NWS since 2000.
Khadim Thiam. Kitchen.
Khadim joined the kitchen faculty in April 2011 and has become an important part of the team. He is from Senegal and comes from a very large family. Khadim is married and has a daughter, and he and his family have lived in the United States for three years. He is fluent in Wolof (his first language) and French. Khadim likes to spend his time with his family and friends. He is interested in politics, and enjoys his work in the NWS kitchen. At NWS since 2011.
