Librarian: Nancy Highiet


Cathy Friedman. Library Assistant.
B.A. (Art History), Yale University; M.B.A., Stanford University. In addition to working at the Northwest School, Cathy works part-time as a library assistant at the Forest Ridge School in Bellevue, and as a Library Assistant Substitute in the King County Library System. Formerly she was a library and teaching assistant at the Jewish Day School in Bellevue. Cathy's interests include reading, knitting, movies, and cats. She lives in Sammamish. At NWS since 2005.

Greg Hampton. IT Director.
B.A. (Business Administration/MIS), Saint Leo University. Greg has worked IT in various industries, including retail, healthcare, education (NWS 1998–2005), finance/banking and government contracting. His non-IT interests include coaching youth baseball, brewing beer, cooking, motorcycles, scuba diving and snowboarding.

Nancy Highiet. Librarian.
B.A., University of California, Berkeley; M.L.S., San Jose State University. Nancy previously worked as the Librarian at the Westlake School for Girls in Los Angeles and at the American School in London. She is the Past President of Independent School Section of the American Library Association and is a current member of the PNAIS Librarians' Conference Planning Committee. Her interests include family, reading, walking, and traveling. At NWS since 1990.

Catherine Seaver. Educational Technology Coordinator.
B.A. (Education), University of British Columbia; M.A. (History), University of British Columbia. Catherine has more than 12 years of educational experience and a strong technical background focused on working with youth. Most recently, she worked at DigitalSmarts, a consulting company focused on providing parents, educators and young people with “street smarts for the online world,” and has also worked in various technological capacities at the University of British Columbia. Her interests include cooking French, Indian and Italian foods, biking, knitting, gardening and playing the piano. At NWS since 2011.

Perry Thiesen. Network Administrator.
Perry has a strong technical background and maintains The Northwest School’s network, working closely with all areas of the school on network related issues and technical troubleshooting. He is active outdoors, enjoys good coffee, and is the proud owner of three Great Danes. He is the grandfather of a current NWS Middle School student. At NWS since 2001.

Chelle Whittle. Database Coordinator.
B.A. (Sociology), Wartburg College. One year graduate study in Cottbus, Germany. Chelle has worked at Northwest in a variety of capacities, most recently in the Registrar's Office and as an HR Assistant. Chelle's interests include the outdoors, traveling and art. At NWS since 2004.

Peter Woodburn. PC/LAN Technician.
B.A. (Journalism), Gonzaga University; Certificate (Technical Communication), University of Washington. Peter previously worked IT at a credit union for five years. He currently volunteers as a tutor through the Youth Tutoring Program. Peter spends his free time as an amateur winemaker and also helps contribute to an independent arts oriented website based out of Seattle/Portland. He enjoys Italian cooking, all things related to music, classic literature, and suffering through each Mariners season. At NWS since 2011.
