Thomas Elliott. Math.
B.A. (Philosophy and Mathematics), University of Iowa; M.A., Ph.D. (Philosophy), University of Iowa. Thomas taught Philosophy at California State University, Chico for ten years before joining the NWS faculty. She is fascinated by deductive thinking. Her interests include creative writing and backpacking. At NWS since 2006.
Kate Eriksen. Math, Statistics.
B.A. (Mathematics), Teaching Licensure (Advanced Mathematics), M.Ed. (Education), University of Oregon. Before joining the NWS faculty, Kate taught high school math for 8 years in Oregon, Washington and overseas. Her interests include traveling, running, listening to music, and learning and playing with her young son. At NWS since 2008.
Ann Joyce. Geometry, Calculus.
B.S. (Math Education), McMurry College, Abilene, Texas; M.S. (Natural Science, Math option), University of Oklahoma. Ann's work in the field of Education has spanned over 30 years and has included positions such as AP Calculus Instructor in the Issaquah School District, Washington Math Council Trainer and Student Teacher Supervisor at the University of Washington. Ann was voted Teacher of the Year in 1999 for her exceptional work in the Issaquah School District. She received the Superintendent's Award in 1988. At NWS since 2005.
Rodwell Kov. Math, International Program.
B.A. (Applied Computational Mathematical Sciences, Minor in Mathematics), University of Washington; M.A. (Curriculum and Instruction; Mathematics Education), University of Washington. Before joining NWS, Rod taught at Trinity Lutheran College, CLC Academy, and was a math tutor. At NWS since 2006.
David Matlock. Algebra II, Calculus, Advanced Calculus, Co-coach of Math Club.
B.A. (Philosophy), B.S. (Physics, minor in Mathematics), University of Alabama at Birmingham; M.S. (Physics), UCLA. David did high energy particle physics research at CERN, working on the Compact Muon Solenoid detector at the Large Hadron Collider. He received a "Teacher's Assistant of the Year Award" while teaching physics labs at UCLA. David enjoys painting, racquetball, hiking, board games, reading, movies, and exploring issues of right and wrong. At NWS since 2008.
Sue Maul. Middle School Math.
B.S. (Mathematics), Bucknell University; Teaching Certificate, Antioch University. Sue has ten years of experience teachingin Seattle Public Schools, including McClure and Eckstein Middle Schools and Olympic Hills Elementary. She brings a wealth of experience in teaching diversestudent populations and in developing differentiated math curricula. At NWS since 2002.
Ananya Rabeya. Middle & Upper School Math.
B.S. (General Studies), University of Central Oklahoma; M.S. (Applied Mathematics), Eastern Washington University. Ananya recently completed her Master’s in applied mathematics, and has more than 10 years of experience teaching in classrooms and tutoring students. Most recently, she worked as a Pre-Calculus and Geometry instructor at Lakeside’s summer academy, and served as a graduate instructor at Eastern Washington University. Ananya is fluent in Bengali, and also speaks Hindi and Urdu. At NWS since 2011.
Kathryn Wallace. 8th grade Math, 10th grade Biology.

Steven Wilbur. Math and Spoken Word.
B.A. (Mathematics with minors in Music and French), University of North Texas; Writing Certificate (Writing for Children), University of Washington. To many, Steven is a familiar face around Northwest. Since 2008, Steven has worked as a substitute instructor at for many courses including math, concert and jazz bands, French, and Humanities. At NWS since 2008.
