The NWS Parent Association is proud to present the 2007-2008 program of Parent Education Forums.
 
These evening events will be held in the Commons from 6:30-9:00 PM. Light refreshments and beverages will be served from 6:30-7:00 PM. (If you miss dinner, don't hesitate to come. There will be plenty of food to tide you over!)
 
Mark your calendars to save these dates. Reminder flyers with more detailed information will be included in the school Bulletin before each event.

Fall Forum: MySpace, YourSpace, WhoseFace?
Wednesday, November 7, 2007, 6:30-9 PM.
 
Please join us Wednesday, November 7th in the NWS Commons to hear Seattle Police Detective Malinda Wilson talk about internet safety for teenagers. A member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force for the last seven years, Detective Wilson will address concerns and offer ideas about guiding our students toward safer internet activity.

Winter Forum: Dr. David Hawkins
Wednesday, January 30, 2008, 6:30-9 PM.
 
Please join Dr. David Hawkins, Endowed Professor of Prevention in the UW School of Social Work, for the Winter Parent Forum on Wednesday, January 30th. Dr. Hawkins' research focuses on strategies parents and schools can use to reduce the risks of unhealthy behavior among adolescents. His prevention work is the result of a 32-year study of 808 Seattle elementary school students, and a study of 24 communities across seven states.
 
Spring Forum: Living With - and Listening To - Our Teens
Wednesday, March 05, 2008, 6:30-9 PM.
 
Susan Partnow and Andrea Cohen of the Compassionate Listening Project will suggest how parents can listen in ways that deepen connections while avoiding landmines at home. The evening will include a short lecture, demonstration, and interactive exercises.
