NWS Celebrates Three New Hires

Welcome Amina Loftin, Julie Lombardo, and Risa De Gorgue to NWS Leadership Positions

Please join us in welcoming three talented individuals – two of whom are current members of the NWS community – into new leadership positions.

Amina Loftin (shown on left) is Northwest’s first Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Amina has served Northwest since 2018 as our Accounts Payable and Payroll Coordinator. Since 2020, she has expanded her engagement in our community to serve as facilitator of the Faculty of Color affinity group, advisor to the Black Student Union, and a member of the Advancing Equity and Belonging Team. Amina has also served on the Faculty Executive Committee and is a regular search committee member. She has facilitated and presented workshops on DEI topics outside of Northwest in roles such as the ISEEN Fall Educators Workshop, the PLACE Summer Civics Program, and was a steering committee member for the NWAIS Equity & Inclusion Speaker Series.

In her letter of interest, Amina shared her personal goal “to help create a world in which my son and young people especially, but all people in general, can feel safe, valued, seen, and loved.”  We look forward to witnessing more of Amina’s excellent work in her new role.

Julie Lombardo (shown on right) is Northwest’s Director of Development. Julie has served as interim Director of Development since January 2021. After a national search, we are happy to announce that she will continue in this role as the permanent Director. Julie joined Northwest in 2017 as our Assistant Development Director. She first connected with Northwest in 2002 when her eldest son joined the 6th Grade. She previously served as the Communications, Outreach, and Events Manager at Bellwether Housing.

We are thrilled Julie will continue as our Director of Development and excited about our development initiatives under her skilled leadership.

We are also delighted to welcome Risa De Gorgue (shown in center) as Northwest’s new Director of Communications and Marketing. Risa joins Northwest on May 9. She comes to us from the University of Washington where she has served as Senior Director of Marketing and Enrollment Services for the UW Continuum College since 2011. Risa has served the Continuum College since 2007 and has led re-branding and enrollment efforts resulting in a meaningful increase in student enrollment in the college.
