Ashleigh Bragg
Performing Arts Teacher
Ashleigh arrives at Northwest from the Literacy Through Drama Program at The City University of New York (CUNY), in which she served Black and Brown students in low-income communities at four different high schools in the Bronx and Brooklyn. She earned her Master of Arts in Applied Theatre from the CUNY School of Professional studies. Ashleigh has collaborated with classroom teachers and students with the goal of improving community through racial justice, diversity, inclusion, and equity trainings. She endeavors to witness young people tell authentic stories and help uplift them in the same way theatre and education enriched her life. Ashleigh decided to become a theatre instructor because of her undying love for theatre and her thirst for knowledge. “I am both curious and fascinated by how theatre helps young people to excel in core subjects in their educational careers. Theatre helps us to face fears we didn’t even know we had. It enlivens our imaginations and helps us make important discoveries about the human condition.”
