Clarissa earned a BA in physics with a math minor from Seattle Pacific University - where she was introduced to inquiry-based physics education - and also completed a Masters in Teaching Math and Science.
She has also completed multiple extension courses for engaging and supporting multi-language learners through the University of Phoenix, and teaching upper-level physics courses from UCLA. She has extensive experience teching mathematics and physics, and has also taught at a variety of educational institutions: alternative, military, public, and public charter schools. She has served as course lead, Women in STEM club advisor, and on a CA public school teachers advisory group to provide feedback on state-level science exams.
Her teaching philosophy prioritizes active engagement, critical thinking, and teamwork. She enjoys encouraging students to apply their knowledge to real-world situations.
