Danielle Thal
Science Teacher
Danielle has 18 years of experience teaching science to students in grades 6-12 all over the world, including China and Vietnam. She has been teaching at The Northwest School since 2022, where she teaches biology, chemistry, and environmental science in the upper school. Students in Danielle's classes learn science by doing, where they engage in inquiry driven activities and labs to learn about the connection of science to the real world.
Since 2023, Danielle has been strengthening her own science education with a research fellowship at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. For two years she worked in the lab of Dr. Denise Galloway, where she learned about the connection between HPV and Cancer. She has developed curriculum to share her learning with others, and this will be published by the Fred Hutch Science Education Partnership.
Danielle holds a BS in Biology, BA in Chemistry, and an MA in Secondary Education for the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She was born in South Africa and moved to Albuquerque at the age of 9.
