
Samuel J. Timinsky, PhD
Humanities Teaching Faculty
Dr. Samuel J. Timinsky is an experienced educator with a passion for history, rhetoric, politics, and debate. He holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as well as an M.A. in International Studies from the University of Washington.
With 14 years of teaching experience across university, high school, and middle school levels, Samuel has taught at several esteemed institutions, including The Nueva School in California and the Robinson Center for Young Scholars. His dedication to teaching has been recognized with numerous awards, including the University of Chicago’s Outstanding Educator Award (2022). Samuel is also an experienced speech and debate coach, and has led his students to a national championship in Parliamentary Debate (2023).
Samuel recently earned his First Diamond Award as a coach from the National Speech & Debate Association Honor Society. He believes that humanities education is essential for building empathy and advocacy skills, and is passionate about exploring the complexities of prose and text. He thrives in environments that honor diverse voices and global perspectives, and is committed to fostering a rich learning experience for all students.
