
Alicia Kalan
Librarian
Alicia has a B.A. in Liberal Studies (The Evergreen State College) and an Master's in Library and Information Science (University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee). As a research librarian, Alicia has experience working in a variety of different library settings including public, private, and higher education.
Alicia is passionate about curating diverse collections and empowering students to be critical evaluators of information, equipping them with the skills to navigate complex sources and develop informed perspectives. She is deeply involved in the American Library Association (ALA) and the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), where she has served as a committee member for the 2020 William C. Morris Award, 2023 Michael L. Printz Award, 2025 Best Fiction for Young Adults, and 2027 William C. Morris Award. Her professional contributions also extend to regular book reviews in School Library Journal.
She has classroom experience helping learners of all ages grow and develop through engaging curriculum and individual attention. Outside of the library, her interests include bookbinding, embroidery, and exploring with her son.
