On Tuesday, June 2, The Northwest School's Performing Dance Ensemble (PDE) took the stage at Broadway Performance Hall for its annual PDE Extravaganza, an evening celebrating student creativity, collaboration, and artistic growth.
Featuring student created works, original choreography, and performances by dancers across the program, the showcase highlighted the dedication, courage, and creativity that students have developed throughout the year. Family members, friends, faculty, and community supporters gathered to celebrate the culmination of months of hard work and artistic exploration.
NWS faculty and Dance Directors KJ Dye and Maya Soto note that dance is more than performance - it is a way of building community, expressing humanity, and discovering confidence through movement.
"Dance demonstrates the transformative power of community. Performing allows us to express our humanity and be witnessed."
Celebrating Student Artists
This year's performance showcased dancers from both PDE 1 and PDE 2, featuring a wide range of choreographic styles and collaborative works. Throughout the evening, students demonstrated technical skill, creativity, and a willingness to take artistic risks while supporting one another on stage.
The showcase reflected a year focused on growth mindset, resilience, and community, values that were visible in every performance.
Building Confidence Through Dance
Throughout the year, PDE students challenged themselves to learn new skills, develop stage presence, and step beyond their comfort zones. The performance was a celebration not only of artistic achievement, but also of personal growth.
Each dancer brought their own perspective, energy, and voice to the stage, creating a shared experience that embodied the spirit of the program.
Thank You
Thank you to the students, families, guest choreographers, faculty, Broadway Performance Hall staff, and the entire Northwest School community for supporting the arts and helping make this year's PDE Extravaganza such a meaningful celebration.
Congratulations to all of our dancers, choreographers, and graduating seniors on an incredible performance and a wonderful conclusion to the 2025–26 dance season.
